| | What type of fish do you recommend? | | Well I have 1 female platy, and 1 male zebra danio. What fish are peaceful,(that don't fight with my fish) and a good choice for a 10 gallon tank? | |
| | How many of you are keeping invertebrates in your aquarium? | | I have a couple of tanks that have invertebrates in then as inhabitants, not food. One is a self cloning crawfish (they are in a 10 gallon tank by themselves. Another tank has cherry shrimp and because I was getting over run with trumpet snails (which I was trying to do) I bought some "Killer snails to eat the over run snails. There are other invertebrates that I hope to get in the future but these will do now. What kinds of invertebrates do you have and why did you get them? | |
| | Does any one keep fish as a pet? | | We have recently gotten back into fish keeping, hmm I am not sure if that is the proper word for it, but you get the idea. Any way right now we have 4 tanks in our house. The first is a small 2 gallon and in it is my son's blue male Betta fish. The second is my daughters 5 gallon Tetra tank. She has a Black Skirt Tetra, 2 serpae tetras, 1 sunset platy and a neon tetra ( she did have 2, but her Black skirt ate one). The 3rd is a 40-45 gallon corner aquarium and in it we have 5 cichlids. We are new to these fish and they are quite interesting. The last one is just a 10 gallon spare tank. It was bein used for one of the cichlids that had badly nipped fins, but now she is back in the main tank and it is used as a fish jail, lol. When I say fish jail it is because we have in cichlid that was beating up on all the other fish, so until he can be rehomed he isn't allowed in the big tank to terrorize the others, sort of like a time out.So, does anyone keep fish? If so, please tell me about them. I am interested in all kinds of fish. | |
| | How poor have you ever been? What did you do to make money and better yourself? | | I can remember one time in particular when I had no money and no job, just a little Volkswagen Beetle and a tent. So I pitched my tent out in the desert in a shady wash and got a job to save up money for a place to live. I would pick up cans before and after work to turn in for money and twice a week I would sell my blood's plasma. I camped out for two months before I saved enough for a place to live. It wasn't all bad, I love camping but it was kind of a pain taking a shower from a stolen 10 gallon water bottle propped up in a tree! Were you ever in a similar situation? What did you do, what lengths did you go to in order to escape your poverty and improve your life? | |
| | How to tell if the gas pump is cheating you | | Here's some important information about gas pumps that have been altered by their owners to cheat you. We work hard for the money to pay for our gas, and it's so wrong that some of them would do that to us and take advantage like that! Evidently there are a lot of stations doing this. I got this in an email from a friend today and thought it was important enough that it should be shared with you all!Cheating at Gas Pumps-- We saw on the news the other night that this is happening everywhere. Brian pumped exactly one gallon of gas. The price did not match the cost of one gallon, it was higher. He went inside and complained, got a refund. There is also a number on each pump that you can call and complain. This is a true story, so read it carefully.I stopped at a BP gas station in GA. My truck's gas gauge was on 1/4 of a tank I use the mid-grade, which was priced at $3.71 per gallon. When my tank is at this point, it takes somewhere around 14 gallons to fill it up. When the pump showed 14 gallons had been pumped I began to slow it down, then to my surprise it went to 15, then 16. I even looked under my truck to see if it was being spilled. It was not. Subject: Gas Rip-OffsI am sending this story on because I am certain it happened to me. I had allowed my car to go to totally empty by the time I drove into a Four Brothers station here in Wilkesboro on 4/26, then filled it up. I have a 20 gallon capacity tank, usually takes only 18, and my receipt showed 23 gallons when I stopped the fill up at $75. This is a true story, so read it carefully.

| | Aquarium Question - How Can I Get My Aquariums to Grow Green Algae? | | Hi! I know there are people here who have great knowledge about aquarium and fishkeeping. I need your help! My aquariums grow brown algae instead of green algae. I know there are very few, maybe only 1, algae eaters who can survive on brown algae and I have lost 2 royal farlowellas because of it (and they aren't easy to get). I just use the standard light bulbs that come in the aquarium hoods when you buy them. My 30 gallon aquarium doesn't have much of a problem yet, but my 10 gallon is having major problems with brown algae. Any suggestions? I do scrub down the sides with a clean brush when I syphon the gravel. Today I took two of the plants out and washed them off before putting them back in the tank (clear water only). Does anyone know what to do to get my tanks to grow green algae?
Thanks!:-)
