| | What do you put in a christmas stocking? | | I usually fill it with toiletry items, maybe small toys for the little ones, a bit of candy, and nuts and fruit. I know some folks don't fill them at all while others put small wrapped gifts? I was wondering what the custom is in other countries. I am also looking for new ideas to spice things up a bit. | |

| | Looking For A Old Christmas Stocking Pattren | | In 1967 or 1968 when I was in the 8th grade my home-ech teacher gave us an assignment to make a lovely large Christmas Stocking. It was extra large and the top was white, which folded over into a cuff and the rest of the stocking was bright red. There was draw string holds all around the stocking for a green ribbon to pull through and tie a lovely bow.For years I have looked for this pattern with know luck at many placed like: goodwill, yard sales, second hand stores, and even online auctions as well as I have google it. The reasons I wanted this pattern they are easy to make; it's a part of my children hood, and I would like to make them for my grandchildren before they grow just like children did. If you have this pattern please let me know. HELP! | |

| | Christmas Stocking... the story behind it | | The most popular legend of the Christmas stockings says that there was once a father who had three beautiful daughters. These three girls were destined to live a life without husbands because their father could not raise enough money for their dowries.Their plight was overheard by Saint Nicholas of Myra one day. That night, Saint Nicholas dropped three bags of gold down the chimney of the house that they lived in. It so happens that the girls had washed their stockings and hung it above the fireplace to dry. The bags of gold dropped into the stockings. When others heard of this occurrence, they began to hand their stockings at the fireplace as well, in the hope that Saint Nicholas will also remember them and drop them bags of gold.Heh heh... interesting beginning to an age old tradition, isn't it? | |

| When you were a kid, what did you get in your Christmas stocking every year? | | There were usually some "random" items in my stocking when I was a kid, but every year I would get: an apple, an orange, some nuts, hershey's kisses, one of those lifesavers books, a candy cane and money (equal to my age, ie: 12 years old $12 dollars).Apart from that, there would often be small toys, a pez dispenser, when I got a little older there was rose perfume or little make up things. These days there's always a pez dispenser at the very least (I collect them). So what did you get in your stocking every year?

| | Do you fill a Christmas stocking for your dog? | | Christmas is coming!!! Do you include all the memebrs of you household in the holiday? Includeing your pets? I always try to do Christmas for my pets as if they were children. They are after all my children, as far as I am concerned. So I fill a stocking for them and I make sure they don't see anything that's going in it before Christmas Day. Do you do Chrsitmas for your pets like they are children? Do you go all out or just get them a couple little things? | |
