How Do You Store Your Crochet Hooks?
I used to crochet alot and was always having trouble finding my hook. I kept them in a sewing basket but when I wanted a particlur size, I had to empty my basket to find it. They make commercial hook or needle holders but they are expensive to get a nice one. I now have a cute little holder that I crocheted. It holds all my needles and I dont have to look so long for them thus saving me time. I found this cute pattern for a really nice holder and it can be found at this link: http://crochetcafepatterns.blogspot.com/2005/05/crochet-hook-caddy.html How do you keep up with your needles or hooks?
Crochet Hook Considered a Weapon
The good person that I am, I accompanied friends to court today. Waiting for hours was not my idea of a good day. I brought along my Christmas cards and my crocheting. The metal detector went off and the guard inspected my bag and told me that he knew that the Crochet Hook was harmless and if is was up to him I could bring it in. The problem is that "others" would term it a possible weapon. I had to leave the bag with him while I waited. Glad I brought the Christmas cards, at least I could get them done.
Lost Art: Does anyone know how to tat?
I think tatting is becoming a lost art, or may already be so. Yes you can still buy tatting shuttles in craft stores, but who knows how to do it anymore? I have always wanted to try to make some of the pretty laces that can be made with tatting. Another plus is the small size so that it can be carried with you almost anywhere so you can work on it while stuck waiting in places where waiting would upset you without something to do. I used to have a bone tatting shuttle of my grandmother's. I still have a bone crochet hook, but the tatting shuttle is gone, I think. I have never been able to find anyone who knows how to tat who could teach me. I don't follow written instructions very well. I need the 3D hands on kind of instruction where I can watch and repeat. Do you tat, or know anyone who does? What kinds of items can be made and used today by tatting?
By Hook or By Crook
Several people have asked where I've been lately, as I've not been as active here at myLot as is usual for me.I've been spending a lot of time with my crochet hook and blogging about it, and I even designed a simple dishcloth pattern. I put the free pattern on my blog yesterday, so go check it out. http://macrochet.blogspot.com/It's really simple, yet pretty and useful too. I love my crochet dishcloths better than any you can buy in the store. I've included a picture below.I'm working on a pattern for a back scrubber now. I've never made one, so trying to work one up and write it down as I go is a bit of a challenge for me. I hope to have it done today and will have some people test it and will put it on my blog when that's done.Do you crochet? Would you like to test the pattern for me? It will be similar to the dishcloth, but the ends that you hold on to will be a little different.Have you ever made your own pattern? Do you make things up as you go, or do you follow a pattern from a book?
Would you rather knit, crochet or cross-stitch?
I've always been a frustrated artist hehehe. I love doing arts - drawing, sketching, painting, scrapbooking... though I'm not really good at 'em:(These days, I want my hands to get busy on something new. I've been trying to choose among knitting, crocheting and cross-stitching. I confess I don't know all the how-to's of all three but I wanna learn something new and I can't wait to begin on a project and see the finish product!Well, knitting uses the yarn and I may have a pair of socks, a sweater or a bag; crocheting on the other hand still uses the yarn but it uses a crochet hook and complicated loops, I may have a cool doily or a beautiful lace as a project. Cross-stitching, well, there are several patterns to choose from ranging from nature, cartoons to people, especially babies... uh uh, I may want the cross-stitch. But I want the sweater and the lace too... Shucks! It's so difficult to decide...Maybe you can help me.. Which of the three is more convenient, much easier to learn, lesser expensive and more practical? Would you rather knit? Crochet? Or cross-stitch?
I hate it when I lose things!
You know, I say to my kids all the time, "Make sure you don't lose that!"... and usually they are pretty good about not losing things... So yesterday, we go to the orthodontist for Jillian. She has to get a spacer put in the roof of her mouth to expand her palate before she gets braces. He explains how I have to use this little tool (looks like a crochet hook but pointier) to turn the spacer every day. I put it in my purse and we're on our way.I go to work, then go home last night and look in my purse for it and it's gone. It's not in my purse. It's not in the van. I ask Jillian if she took it out of my purse and she says No, she didn't touch it! I'm thinking maybe it dropped out of my purse at work yesterday, so I come in this morning and it's not here! How the heck could I lose it in less than a day????? I am so mad at myself! Now I have to call the orthodontist and admit that I lost the stupid thing in less than a day! How embarrassing! Grrrr!!!!!Do you tend to lose things?
Knitting - pick up stiches
I really hate to have to rip out a piece because I drop a stitch or if I make a knit instead of a pearl, so I avoid this whenever I can. I use a crochet hook to reach down and pick up the stitch. You can tell by looking if the stitch should be in front or in back and I rarely have to rip anything out.
Time management
I have 3 kids, schoolwork and house to take care of. However, I would love to start crocheting more as I haven't picked up a crochet hook in months. I just can't seem to find the time. My kids are 1, 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. I definitely have my hands full and all of them are home with me every day. I could use some time management tips from anyone and everyone. On a usual day I wake up around 7:30 with the kids. I spend some ime on the computer until my youngest lays down for a nap (usually around 10). I then take my shower and perform my after-shower routine. (usually takes an hour). I then play with the kids some and prepare lunch for all of them. After lunch I clean dishes and do other household things. I start preparing for dinner around 4 and we have dinner between 5 and 5:30. I then spend time with my hubby and perform bedtime tasks with the kids. The kids are usually in bed by 8. After they are in bed I start my schoolwork on the nights I have some due. If I doon't have schoolwork to do I clean up the kitchen and get to bed about 11 every night. Sometimes this routine changes, but it is consistent on most days.If anyone figures out how I can adjust my schedule to include...
Where can I find free knitting patterns for Bitty Baby or Dress Up Dora dolls?
My daughter has both, and I'd love to knit something for them - she's always asking me to make something for her. I've seen darling crochet patterns for Dora, but I'm not that good with a crochet hook just yet. Has anyone seen patterns for either doll?
crochenit hook
It is a double sided crochet hook. I am trying to find a place that sells them in Michigan. I am having no luck. If someone can help me with a website that sells the needles let me know. Thanks Sheryl Ann
