| Homemade Christmas | | So this year we are all flat broke! So my family, when in this situation, we make it a Homemade Christmas. I am making goodies and spice mixes I found online. Easy, cheap and useful! My mom is making body pillows for everybody! My brother buys a half cow and a half pig and gives meat for a gift! My daughter is burning CDs for everybody.
Any other ideas for Homemade Christmas presents that won't end up in the trash?

| Homemade Christmas Tree | | A friend just mentioned how she got a new tree this year and that reminded me of the tree my husband made us.We had an artificial tree where the holes had worn out and we couldn't put the branches in..So my husband found an old tree that we have growing everywhere around here that was starting to die and cut it down. It wasn't very big, so he cut off all the branches leaving the trunk. Then he drilled holes for each branch and what is really cool about this is, we didn't have to use those circle branches you get with a fake tree to cover the "stick" because we have a real trunk, so it looks real..All we need is a pine spray and unless you actually touched the branch, you would think we had a real tree..[em]wub[/em]Then it gets even better, I took those circles and wrapped them around a hanger I shaped into a circle and then decorated that to make my own homemade wreath..[em]w00t[/em]So, instead of throwing it out, we reused it and made another decoration..Now that I read this, maybe I should have put this in my frugal interest...[em]confused[/em]Have you reused something for the holidays to make it last longer or to stretch out out to make more with what you... | |

| | Homemade Christmas | | Every year at our family Christmas I bring a homemade gift. I have in the past years made ornaments...little hand stamped gift boxes filled with candy and other things to numerous to mention. This year I made candy bar holders out of Christmas paper and put a little poem on it about it being my Christmas candy since I didn't have time. Everyone looks forward to this little homemade gift. I always wait until after the big gifts are opened as it's just a little something extra. Do you make a little gift or favor to share at Christmas? | |

| Homemade CDs for Christmas gifts? | | We don't have an official gift exchange at work but I kind of feel like I should get something for my bosses and co-workers since there are only five of us total. I don't have a lot of disposable cash this season (who does?) so I don't want to spend a lot. I have gone over a dozen and a half ideas but with each one comes a fault (this person doesn't like chocolate, that person doesn't read for pleasure...). So yesterday I thought of making CDs for each of them, most likely with holiday music, and then giving them each $5 or $10 gift cards to somewhere I know they'll like. Is this an appropriate gift for co-workers for Christmas? How would you feel if someone you had worked with for three years gave you a homemade Christmas CD? | |
| | Ten Clever Money Savers You Might Want To Try This Weekend | | ’ve been collecting a bunch of interesting little money saving tips over the last few months. Here are ten worth looking into.
Buy a turkey and put it on ice. Turkeys sold in June are roughly half the price of turkeys sold in November. You can freeze a turkey forever, and after only six months, there’s virtually no degradation in the quality of the meat. So if you have a deep freezer, go buy your Thanksgiving turkey the first weekend in June. Others might think it odd, but you’ll laugh all the way to the bank.
Drink ten or so glasses of tap water both days. It’s summer. Drink more water. Not only is tap water absurdly cheap and very healthy, it also curbs hunger, which means that you’ll eat less for meals, which can directly save you some cash. Get hydrated with a big ol’ glass of water!Plan your summer vacation - but not this year’s! Right now is the time to plan next year’s summer vacation. Identify what you want to do now so that you can book things early, get exactly what you want, and save a ton of cash. The last time we went on a significant summer vacation (2006), we booked a campground site almost nine months in advance, paid a pittance for it by check, and had the most...

| Mom's Homemade Christmas Decorations | | My mom passed away over 10 years ago. I miss her the most near this time of year with the 2 big Holidays nearing. She made a lot of things craft wise. The attatched photo is one of I think 9 different houses etc that she made many years ago. These are a plastic frame with holes that she cut according to plans then used a needle threading the yar into the plastic to make the pattern. Some have plastic beads as door knobs and other decorations. This one here is a Reindeer house. There is also a toy shop, bakery, post office etc. These are now a family heirloom. She also made ornaments by hand when I was a small lad. I have them as well. maybe nearer the holidays I'll post photos of those 50 year old ornaments she made. Do you have any decorations you or a family member made that you treasure? Please share them here for us all. I have a few more photos to add to the responses as well here later.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
