myLot Discussions| market for custom-made scrapbooks for others? | | I have always thought that it is more meaningful to make your own scrapbooks, so you can write whatever you want in them, and arrange the papers in a way that appeals to you. but recently I've started wondering. there are a lot of people who appreciate scrapbooks, but don't know how to do them, or don't have the time to get around doing them. instead of just offering classes (which is what most scrapbook shops do, since they don't believe in selling end-products), perhaps I could offer the service of taking photos from others and making it into a nice page or nice mini-album and charge for the materials and time taken to make it?wonder if there is a market out there for such a service? I suppose the person offering it has to build up a reputation and have a style that is popular in the first place... | |
| | Are you fond of making scrapbooks? | | I am. Every important gathering I attend to, I make a scrapbook of pictures. I love seeing them after. When I'm sad, I usually look at it and then I'm happy. Scrapbooking is also an outlet for me when I'm tired or stress. | |
| | What kind of scrapbooks have you made? | | Until last year, I had never really got interested in scrapbooking. It seemed like it would be fun, but I had not had a reason to do a scrapbook.My oldest grandson was a football player and a senior in high school. I had decided that I would get all the needed articles and make him a big scrapbook of all his years in football up until graduation. I had accumulated lots of newspaper articles, pictures and other things to put in the scrapbook. I went to Michaels and bought a black leather book and lots of paper to work with. Took me right up until almost graduation to finish that book. I think it probably had about 40 pages or more in it. There were so many, I had to add the extenders. We also made him a CD of parts of games for his memory album. He really enjoyed it and it will be something he can keep for life.Then, came this year. You can't do for one grandchild and not do for the other. Our granddaughter was graduating, so that meant a trip to the store for another scrapbook and more items! This one took much more time to make than my grandson's. She was a soccer player but I didn't have as many articles in the paper to use. I had... | |
| | Who scrapbooks here? | | I use to scrapbook all the time. I'm far behind now. I use to use Creative Memories and would love to still. However, they are the Sax-Fifth-Avenue of scrapbooking supplies. High quality-high prices. I haven't found anything else that I like. What do you use? | |

| | Scrapbooks that Heal | | Most of us scrapbook the "big events" in life, birthday parties, holidays, vacations and so forth. But, how many of us scrapbook about your divorce, the death of a loved one, a disease, depression, cancer, a child with a disability. How many of us only record the happy events in our lives, but avoid the sad things, the things that show our weaknesses, our sadness, our heartbreak, our pain. There is a reason for that...those are things we don't want to face, we don't want to admit, we just don't want to look back and remember. But do you know, that facing those fears, can actually make you feel better! Trust me...it's true.A few years ago, I went through a very nasty, heartbreaking divorce. I thought I was going to die...Two years later, I met someone new, but I still had so many feelings from my previous experiance, I didn't know what to do, so I wrote about it. Yes, I really wanted to just throw those old pictures of my ex-husband, or burn them, or well...there was a million things I could think of to do with those photos', but I decided to go ahead and scrapbook them before I married this new man. Where should I start? | | I'm interested in looking at making a few scrapbooks of some sort to house memories of my son from when he entered this world till now, vacations we have taken and so forth. I have tons of photos and a few souvenirs that I've kept along the way. Can anyone suggest some tips on how I can begin to start creating my first one? are there ready made scrapbooks I can buy? or is it best to start from scratch and create them yourself? | | How many scrapbooks do you have? | | I started out with just one. When I filled that one up I started another one. Then I started one just my older daughter. Then I started one for my younger daughter. Then I started a paper bag album for Christmas a few years ago. But I wasn't done yet. We now have one for my daughter's first birthday and birthday party, and one for my older daughter's 8th birthday and birthday party. Then I had to make a small one for the cat because she is apart of the family too.

| | Anyone Do Scrapbooks or Online Scrapbooks? | | I saw this neat website that has all sorts of craft,scrapbook stuff. I think its mainly for working online,but maybe not..sorry not sure. But they have one page with everything free. Just wanted to pass it on if anyone is interested.
